Sorrento by Road

Sorrento  by  Road

Guide to arrive to Sorrento by road, driving from the North, the East or the South

By  CAR

From Naples

The journey from Naples to Sorrento takes 44 km and takes about an hour - maybe a bit more in Summer. Take the A3 (Naples to Salerno) on the left (going to the Sorrento Peninsula) and then continue in the way to Castellammare di Stabia. At Pompei, turn left to take the SS 145 (Strada Statale Sorrentina or State Road 145) until Castellammare di Stabia. Then you will have to drive along the coast passing  by key towns of the Peninsula as Seiano or Meta and following the frequent signs on the way, you will be in Sorrento in less than an hour.

From the North

From Rome you have to cover a distance of  265 km. Follow the Motorway A1 (Austostrada A1), also known as Autostrada del Sole (this motorway connects Milan with Naples via Bologna, Florence, and Rome) After passing Caserta continue until you pass toll of Naples. After about 15 kms take the A3 (Naples to Salerno) on the left (going to the Sorrento Peninsula) and then continue in the way to Castellammare di Stabia.

From the East

If coming from the East take the Motorway A16 (Bari to Naples) and then the A3 until you see the signs to take the SS 145 (Strada Statale Sorrentina or State Road 145) until Castellammare di Stabia. Then you will have to drive along the coast passing  by key towns of the Peninsula as Seiano or Meta and following the frequent signs on the way, you will be in Sorrento in less than an hour.

From the South

After having passed through the Motorway A3 (Reggio Calabria to Salerno) as if going to Naples, you'll have to continue the way towards Naples until Castellammare di Stabia and then take the SS 145 (Strada Statale Sorrentina or State Road 145) until Castellammare di Stabia. Then you will have to drive along the coast passing  by key towns of the Peninsula as Seiano or Meta and following the frequent signs on the way, you will be in Sorrento in less than an hour.
