Amalfi Coast Taxi Tours
Latest update: 1 September 2024
Almost every visitor to Sorrento wants to sample some of the incredible sights that lay just on the doorstep of the Sorrento Peninsula and our Amalfi Coast taxi tours can provide that.
Visiting the best of the Amalfi Coast by public transport alone can be complicated, tiring and uncomfortable as the buses are very small and the main towns along the Amalfi Coast don't have train stations. You can visit both Positano and Amalfi from the water using the local hydrofoils, but to include the hill town of Ravello on the same day can be something of a challenge with its location around half an hour inland of Amalfi. |

Yes you'll pay more by taking a taxi tour for the day, but it may mean you get to see everything you came to the region to see in the limited time you have available and perhaps free up some time for something else while you're here.
We can provide you with an English-speaking driver who'll pick you up directly from your accommodation in Sorrento at 10 am. This will be a private tour, just for however many of you there are in your group; even if you're on your own or in a couple, you won't have to share with anybody else.

From Sorrento we take you along the famous Amalfi Coast Road to your first stop: Positano. As you approach the town from the main road, you'll have received just a few hints on the vista awaiting you.
Positano is nestled in a bay with high cliffs either side, and those cliffs are filled with a jumble of multi-coloured houses, facing not just each other but the town's beaches and pretty harbour. The thousands of windows on the hill-sides seem like a crowd of people in a Roman amphitheatre, gazing down on to the spectacle. Here you'll have time to wander around the narrow lanes to check out the shops or to enjoy a drink by the beach. |
When you leave Positano you'll continue along the main Amalfi Coast Road, passing the pretty town of Praiano and the famous Fjord of Furore before arriving in Amalfi. At first glance, Amalfi gives the impression of being a small fishing town, but this small town was once a mighty maritime republic, an important centre of trade in the medieval world.
As such, it contains treasures beyond what you'd expect from a typical seaside town. When you arrive at the town's main square, Piazza Duomo, you're met with the breathtaking sight of Amalfi Cathedral with its famous steps. The square is a hive of activity and a great place to stop for some lunch. |
The final of the three most popular towns on the Amalfi Coast is Ravello. The atmosphere here is a little bit different from Positano and Amalfi, in every sense of the word.
Firstly, Ravello is around half an hour inland from Amalfi and sits some 365 metres above sea level which makes it a few degrees cooler than the seaside towns, something of a relief during the hot months of summer. Just like Amalfi before it, Ravello has its own Piazza Duomo with an historic Cathedral, but the highlights in the town are somewhat more recent. |
Within just a short walk of the main square are two beautiful gardens called Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, each with a colourful display of plant-life, stunning vistas, and in the case of Villa Cimbrone, one of the most iconic sights on the Amalfi Coast: the Terrace of Infinity with its rows of marble busts.
Once you've finished in Ravello we'll take you back to your accommodation in Sorrento. Aside from the three main stops detailed above you'll have other opportunities to stop and take photos along the way as well as refreshment breaks as and when required. The tours last a maximum of eight hours and part of the driver's job is to help you see everything within that time and he'll keep you updated on how you're doing for time throughout the day.

Hi Dion
Francisco, the driver for the Amalfie coast was excellent. Very friendly knowledgeable man, he was waiting for us at our hotel in advance of the pickup time and field in on the sites as we drove the coastal route, everything was exactly as per the timetable, although we were slightly ahead as the traffic was thankfully much better than anticipated, we were back in a hotel at around 5:30 PM.
Thanks,
Noel
