The two towns of Capri occupy the eastern and western halves of the island. The Italian hierarchical system puts the region first (Campania in this case), followed by the province (Metropolitan City of Naples), followed by the comune, of which there are two on the island.
Slightly larger of the two towns is 'Capri', which obviously has the exact same name as the island itself so for the purposes of differentiation, we've called it 'Capri Town' on the website. At the opposite end of the island lies Anacapri which is home to the island's highest point: Mount Solaro, 589 metres above sea level. |
