The church museums of Naples are a feature that not every Italian city has. In our separate section of churches of Naples you'll find the larger basilicas and of course Naples Cathedral but there are also a number of other church complexes which are also museums.
One such example is the beautiful Santa Chiara complex with its amazing cloisters surrounding a courtyard of colourful majolica tiles. Across the city there are other church museums holding the treasures of Naples' illustrious history, be they paintings, items of jewellery or religious garments. Perhaps the most famous of all works within the church museums is the incredibly-lifelike Veiled Christ on display at the Sansevero Chapel Museum. |
