Villa Lysis
Latest update: 1 February 2024
Villa Lysis is also called Villa Fersen, because of the man behind of its construction, the writer Jacques d’Adelswärd-Fersen. He chose to build this impressive house in Capri as his spot to hide from the world for the rest of his life (he was even buried on the island, in the non-Catholic cemetery), following his memories from holidays in the Mediterranean during his childhood.
You can explore the stylish spaces of the villa, now restored after years of being abandoned: the bedrooms, the big terraces, the dining room, the sitting-room in the ground floor (from where you’ll get a view of the Gulf of Naples to remember) or the 'Chinese Room' (an opium den, where you can have an idea of the wild nights the poet and his lover had). Even without the free entry this would be a must-see in any Capri Itinerary and comes highly recommended. |
