The Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore is one of a series of religious museum complexes in Naples centro storico, the historic centre.
Constructed in the 13th century, the church is said to be the place where Italian Renaissance writer Bocaccio met Fiammetta, the object of his affections in much of his work. The complex now includes the underground Macellum of Naples: Neapolis Sotterrata. |
