Sorrento Lift
Latest update: 2 February 2024
The Sorrento Lift provides access between Villa Comunale Park and Marina Piccola.
This is a really useful facility to know about if you're visiting Sorrento as it can save you a lot of time and energy. You do have to pay for the lift (see prices below) so whether you need it or not really just depends on those energy levels and time constraints. |

On arrival at the ferry and hydrofoil port you'll find the lift an attractive proposition as an alternative to the buses or to walking up the hill followed by steep steps up to Piazza Tasso. If you have any kind of luggage with you for example the walk really isn't an option so it's either the short walk to the lift, a bus or a taxi.
You buy tickets for the lift from the ticket office in its entry hall which is cut out of the cliff, next to the beach clubs in Marina Piccola, opposite the entrance to Marameo Beach. You then pass your ticket under a scanner (a bit like with your passport at the airport) and take the lift up.
If you're heading in the opposite direction - down from the town centre to the beach clubs or to the ferry and hydrofoil port to visit Ischia and Capri, you can take the lift down from Villa Comunale Park where you'll also find another ticket kiosk.
When taking the lift down from Villa Comunale Park make sure you buy your ticket from the kiosk next to the lift before entering the lift.
Opening-times of the lift do vary so please see below for details of that.
