Church and Cloisters of San Francesco
Latest update: 2 February 2024
The Church and Cloisters of San Francesco is one of the most memorable sights in Sorrento.
Originally built as a monastery in the 7th century, the Baroque-style church and cloisters came hundreds of years later, in the 14th century. Apart from becoming an important visitor attraction, the cloisters are the perfect romantic backdrop to the weddings that take place in the courtyard. |
During the summer you'll find there's almost always a wedding taking place here and you can usually pop in to enjoy the spectacle. The church entrance is next to that of Villa Comunale Park and if you walk around to the right of the park you can see the rear of the church building.
