Capri Two Day Itinerary
Latest update: 1 February 2024
If you're considering a two day itinerary of Capri then it's a good bet that you'll be staying overnight at one of the island's hotels or private apartments.
The itinerary below allows you to make the most of the time you have on the island and is based on your starting point being Marina Grande. |

Day One
Visit ticket office and buy 5 tickets for the bus and the Funicular Railway (the same tickets can be used on both)
Take the Funicular Railway up to Capri Town
Walk through the Piazzetta and make your way to the Belvedere di Tragara
Once you've enjoyed the views there, walk to the left corner and start the Pizzolungo walk
The Pizzolungo walk is mostly flat until you reach a certain point where you need to climb lots of steps. You can either continue up the steps or simply turn round and walk back the way you came at that point. We recommend continuing up the steps if you feel fit enough (there really are a lot though!) then stopping at the top for a well-earned rest and lunch at Trattoria Le Grotelle.
From Le Grotelle follow Via Matermania until you reach the crossroads with Via Tiberio.
Walk along Via Tiberio, eventually ignoring the signs for Villa Jovis and continue on to Villa Lysis (also known as Villa Fersen)
Visit Villa Lysis and enjoy the spectacular view down to Marina Grande
From Villa Lysis follow the steep path up through the trees until you reach Villa Jovis
Walk back down the way you came towards the Piazzetta and if you still have some energy visit Augustus Gardens
By this stage you'll need to put your feet up so either head straight for dinner in Capri Town or make your way back down to your hotel in Marina Grande via the Funicular Railway. Note - if it's busy there you could walk down the steps but yes, I know you're tired by now so we won't push it!
Day Two
Ok hopefully we didn't wear you out the previous day and you've still got some energy left. This second day works equally well whether you're spending a second night at a hotel or if you need to catch a ferry or hydrofoil in the late afternoon.
Using one of your Funicular/Bus Tickets that you bought on Day One, take the 09:10 bus to Anacapri.
From Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri visit Villa San Michele and then take the Chairlift up Mount Solaro
Take the chairlift back down to Piazza Vittoria and grab a coffee or snack there
Take a bus down to the Blue Grotto. Here you can walk down the steps and wait for a rowboat to take you into the cave
Take the bus back up to Anacapri and visit Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo in the town centre
When you've finished in Anacapri take the bus directly back to Marina Grande in time for your ferry or alternatively, back to your hotel where you can plan where to eat that evening.
