Parsano Bastion & Ancient Walls of Sorrento
Latest update: 2 February 2024
The Parsano Bastion and Ancient Walls represent the remains of what was once an imposing defensive system. During the 16th century, the then Spanish-held town of Sorrento was under serious threat from Saracen pirates and it was during this time that the town's defences were enhanced. There were already walls in place at that time but as they dated back to Roman and in some cases, Greek times, they were in serious need of renovation.

Today it's possible to walk along a small section of this wall at the Parsano Bastion which is located close to Sorrento Cathedral. From atop the walls you can get some great views of the town and also get a feel for how the defensive system worked.
