Capri Travel
Latest update: 2 February 2024
If you're feeling a bit daunted about your trip to Capri and how to organise it, don't worry, we've got everything covered for you in our Capri Travel section.
On the how to get to Capri page we explain what you need to do once you get to Naples Airport or the city's main train station, Napoli Stazione Centrale. Getting to Capri from other mainland locations is quite straightforward, with fast ferries and hydrofoils operating from Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. |

We'll also help you navigate your way around Capri once you're here. Public transport on the island includes taxis, buses and a funicular railway, there's even a chairlift up to the island's highest point, Mount Solaro. We've provided up to date ferry and fast ferry timetables along with booking engines should you wish to buy your tickets online. You don't need to book the bus tickets online but we've also provided a guide to where you buy the tickets from, how much they cost and of course, where they stop.
The buses are the cheapest way to get around the island but to avoid waiting and queuing, the taxis are another option. Most taxis in Capri are cabriolet-style, and on a beautiful sunny day you can soak up the glamour of the island as you travel around in open-top style. Of course, the taxis are never the cheapest option but we've provided a price guide so you can make an informed decision before you get here.
The Funicular Railway is a vital cog in the Capri transport system. Almost all visitors to the island come through its main port, Marina Grande, but while the port does have its charms, there's much more to explore on the island besides, much of which is up in the main towns of Anacapri and Capri (the main town with the same name as the island). To get up to Capri from Marina Grande there are steps, lots of them, so most people opt for the Funicular which saves a lot of time and doesn't cost much. Just remember, everyone has the same idea so you're likely to find queues for that, especially given that many of the ferries arrive at the same time.
