The town of Battipaglia is located within the Province of Salerno and has a population of 51,055 inhabitants.
Covering an area of 56 km², it stands at an elevation of 72 metres above sea level and lies 77 km from Naples, capital of the Campania region. The main sight of Battipaglia is the 11th century castle known as Il Castelluccio which overlooks the town. |
However, Battipaglia is more famous for its agricultural production rather than its sights. The town draws visitors from all over Italy; keen to savour the Buffalo Mozzarella which can be bought at a large number of factory outlets in and around the town.
