Buses on the Amalfi Coast
Latest update: 2 February 2024
Buses on the Amalfi Coast are run by a company called SITA and are the most cost-effective way of finding your way around. That's not to say they're always the ideal option; they can get crowded during busy times and you're not always guaranteed a seat.
The alternatives are to drive yourselves or to take taxis with the latter being the most expensive option if taking multiple journeys. For trips between the main towns you also have the option to take ferries or hydrofoils. The sea journeys are generally much more pleasant; you're almost certain to get a seat and you'll have a smoother ride where you can sit out on deck and enjoy the views.
Ticket Types
There are two main types of ticket for the buses:
Corso Singolo - This is a single ticket for one bus ride and costs €2.40
Orario - When you need a combination of buses to reach your destination then this is the ticket you need. It's valid for both the first and second bus you need to make the journey. The price of this ticket is €3
Purchasing Tickets
You can buy the tickets from newspaper stands, bars and anywhere else that displays the SITA SUD logo.
You cannot buy the tickets on board the bus, you must buy them first before boarding.
Stamping Tickets
It's imperative that you stamp your ticket using the little machine on the bus, as soon as you board. Sometimes it's difficult to do so because there are people in the way but in these cases it's best to ask somebody close to the machine to stamp it for you if you can't reach it. If you don't stamp your ticket and are caught by an inspector you'll be ejected from the bus and made to pay a heavy fine. Not being able to reach the machine will not count as a valid excuse.

Below you'll find timetables for each of the routes that stop at the main locations.
