SORRENTO HOTELS

Sorrento  Hotels

Sorrento expert Eddie Best takes a periodical look at some of the best places to stay in Sorrento. There's a wide range of accommodation in the town and at any one time there can be in excess of 300 options to choose from. Those options range from private apartments to bed and breakfasts, guest houses and of course hotels.

In Eddie's latest missive he takes a look at the top end of the market with two of Sorrento's five star establishments: the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria and the Hotel Bellevue Syrene.

If you're looking for further advice on where to stay in Sorrento you can drop Eddie a line via info@italyreview.com and he'll be happy to share his expertise with you.

Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria

Opened in 1834, the 5-star Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria is one of the grandest of the grand hotels in Sorrento. Situated in the centre of Sorrento with its own Michelin starred restaurant, frescoed ceilings and period furniture, the hotel exudes opulence and grandeur. The pool area and spa are surrounded by 20,000 square metres of impressive citrus gardens where guests can relax and enjoy drinks and snacks from the poolside bar. The hotel also has spectacular views across the Bay Of Naples including the picturesque Marina Piccola and mighty Mount Vesuvius. Many distinguished guests have stayed in the hotel including Enrico Caruso, Luciano Pavarotti and the hotel’s namesake, Queen Victoria of Sweden.

Hotel Bellevue Syrene

The sumptuous and elegant 5-star Hotel Bellevue Syrene was originally a Roman Villa and converted to a hotel in 1820. Almost every room has a sea view balcony offering majestic views of the Bay of Naples and combines classical architecture with a modern design. The hotel has a small outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers and an elevator takes you down to the private sunbathing platform on the sea. It also has two restaurants, one indoor, and the other is on a magnificent outdoor terrace with the classic Sorrento sea views. A lounge bar offers live piano music at night and the club lounge has free drinks and snacks through the day until 20:00.
