Religious Sites of Campania
Latest update: 29 January 2024
The most famous religious sites of Campania can be found not only in the larger cities, but sometimes tucked away in the corner of a tiny village. That's exactly how you could describe the location of the Basilica di Sant'Angelo In Formis which is nevertheless one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in the region.
It's easier to find the Santa Sofia Complex of Benevento which occupies pride of place in the heart of the modern city. The church and cloisters form part of the Longobards in Italy: Places of the Power (568-774 AD) UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Certosa di Padula in the Salerno Province is another that UNESCO recognise. |
