For the most part, the hill towns of the Amalfi Coast don't get the same level of attention as those that hug the rugged coastline itself.
Towns such as Positano and Amalfi understandably attract the majority of visitors but one hill town at least stands comparison with those: Ravello. Set a little way inland and at the top of a gently rising road, the town of Ravello benefits from slightly cooler temperatures in the summer and can boast a clutch of luxury hotels. It's also the home to the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone which are both a must-see for any visit to the town. |
The other hill towns are much smaller and some, such as Conca dei Marini and Furore also have their own seaside areas. Away from the maddening summer crowds on the coastline, the likes of Scala, Albori, Raito and Tramonti offer a refreshing, alternative set of landscapes.
