Villa Comunale Park

Villa  Comunale  Park

Villa Comunale Park is an absolute must for any visit to Sorrento. Located in the town centre, this small park offers beautifully-manicured gardens and one of the best views in southern Italy. From the park's terrace you can gaze out on to the Gulf of Naples with its landmarks on the horizon such as the islands of Ischia and Procida with the imperious Mount Vesuvius looming in the background.

Whether you come here during the daytime or for the evening "passeggiata", you'll find it one of the most romantic spots in the town. That sense of romance is enhanced by the proximity of the Church and Cloisters of San Francesco where more often than not you can pop in and see a wedding taking place. The entrance to the church is next to that of the park itself and if you walk to the left once inside the park you'll find something very useful, the Sorrento Lift which takes you down to Marina Piccola and its Beach Clubs. Alternatively you can use the pathway down to the marina which is located close to the sea-view terrace.

There are occasional art exhibitions and other events that take place in the park and once you've had enough walking around you can take the weight off your feet and grab a drink or a bite to eat at the La Villa Ristobar which takes advantage of that stunning vista.
Close by: Marina Piccola, Church and Cloisters of San Francesco

Walking distance from Piazza Tasso: 6 minutes

Directions from Piazza Tasso: From Piazza Tasso in the centre of Sorrento it takes around 6 minutes to walk to Villa Comunale Park. If facing out to sea, turn left towards Bar Ercolano and then follow the road to the right of the bar which heads down the slight hill. When you reach another square - Piazza Sant'Antonino, follow the main road as it bears round to the left before sweeping right at which point you'll see the entrance to the park.
